What customers are saying…

He was the 3rd plumber I called to fix my toilet leaking all over the place. He showed up, fixed it and charged me a resonable price. He will be my first call everytime now.

Karen D

Fair and upfront about what was going on with my 10 year old dishwasher. Fixed it and it’s still running good. He’s my plumber now.

Julie

After having to replace the sewer line at my previous house by a company that (I will not mention their name) scammed me. I don’t want to do that again if I can avoid it.  I have Michael come out every year to snake my drain.

Here are some steps you can take to deal with the situation:

  • If possible. Turn off the electricity and gas in your basement. This will reduce the risk of fire or electrocution. If you don’t know what you’re doing don’t do it.
  • Do not enter the basement if there are any signs of live wires or sparks.
  • Find the source of the water and stop it if possible. This could be a burst pipe, a leaking water heater, a sump pump failure, or a sewer backup. If you cannot locate or stop the source, call a plumber or a water damage restoration company immediately.
  • Remove any valuables and furniture from the basement. If they are wet, dry them as soon as possible to prevent mold and mildew growth. You may need to discard items that are severely damaged or contaminated by sewage.
  • Pump out the water from the basement. You can use a wet/dry vacuum, a sump pump, or a bucket to remove the water. Be careful not to overfill the vacuum or bucket, as this could cause spills or leaks. Dispose of the water in a drain or outside, away from your foundation.
  • Dry out the basement. Use fans, dehumidifiers, and heaters to speed up the drying process. Open windows and doors to improve ventilation and reduce humidity. Check for signs of mold and mildew, and clean them with bleach or vinegar if found.
  • Repair any damage to the walls, floors, and ceilings. You may need to replace drywall, insulation, carpeting, or flooring that are soaked or warped. You may also need to seal any cracks or gaps in your foundation that could allow water to seep in again.
  • Prevent future floods by installing a sump pump, a backwater valve, or a drainage system in your basement. You may also want to waterproof your walls and floors with paint or sealant.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain your plumbing and appliances to avoid leaks or malfunctions.
